About
The ‘Farnborough Bagshot Beds’ Groundwater Body (GWB) is an unconfined body of groundwater residing in the sandy sediments of the Bracklesham Group and superficial sands and gravels in river valleys such as the Blackwater. It is contiguous with the Chobham Bagshot Beds GWB to the east. The GWB is, in effect, perched above the London Clay Formation. The Bracklesham Group consists of the Bagshot Formation (oldest), the Windlesham Formation and the Camberley Sand Formation. The outcrop of the Bracklesham Group that defines the GWB is about 233 sq. km in area and lies largely in Hampshire, with the northern and eastern margins being in Berkshire and Surrey respectively.
