About
The Twyford Tertiaries groundwater body is in the Lambeth Group secondary A aquifer which is made up of the Reading and Woolwich Formations. These deposits overlie the Chalk Principal aquifer and are overlain to the South by the London Clay. These deposits can produce large yields where the deposits are sand rich and this may be due to upward recharge to the formation from the underlying Chalk. The GWB is overlain by the River Terrace Gravels to the East of the unit and here the Gravels are designated a principal aquifer.
