star this property comment An incident on the 15th June 2017, approximately 10 km upstream of Rhyl has resulted in farm slurry impacting on the River Clwyd. We expect this to result in a risk of increased bacteria levels in the bathing waters at Rhyl for the duration of Friday 16th June 2017, and have declared an abnormal situation for this period. Officers from NRW are working to ensure the impact on the River Clwyd and Rhyl and Rhyl East bathing waters are minimised. more like this

star this property comment Natural Resources Wales are currently investigating a high bacterial result at Cemaes EC Bathing Water, Anglesey on the 21st of July 2015. Investigations are continuing with regards a sewage discharge in the immediate proximity of the bathing water. We believe that until remedial action is carried out to prevent a further discharge, the bathing beach is at risk of further contamination from faecally derived bacteria. As such in order to protect bathing water quality and bathers Natural Resources Wales have to declare an Abnormal Situation at this beach. more like this

star this property comment On Friday 27th April a third party contractor investigating a brown field site accidentally drilled through a United Utilities rising main sewer on the corner of St George’s Quay and Lune Road. United Utilities isolated the damaged section of sewer and arranged a fleet of nine tankers to collect sewage from the pumping stations and transport it to Lancaster WwTW. Following rainfall on Monday 30th April United Utilities reported on Tuesday 1st May that they were unable to keep on top of flows and a continuous discharge of 20 l/s was being made from Riverside Pumping Station. The repair was made by United Utilities on 5th May by replacing the damaged rising main sewer section. more like this

The final effluent appeared to have been compromised and visually deteriorated, causing discolouration to Afon y Bala flowing into the lake. The abnormal situation has now ceased. more like this
