    About

The Lower Witham operational catchment includes the River Witham and tributaries from Stamp End sluice in Lincoln to the tidal limit at Grand Sluice in Boston. The major tributaries of the Lower Witham are also included: the Barlings Eau, River Bain and River Slea. The catchment is sparsely populated with the towns of Horncastle and Sleaford the main settlements in addition to Lincoln and Boston. The catchment is dominated by highly productive agricultural land. The Lower Witham provides a navigable link to The Wash and has many recreational uses. There are a number of protected areas in the catchment.
