    About

The classifications for this operational catchment range from moderate to poor ecological potential. It is modified largely for flood protection and urbanisation. Towns include Leyland, Euxton, Chorley and Adlington. Croston village is prone to flooding and options for a major flood management scheme are currently underway. The River Yarrow has a good fish population including Salmon and Trout. The presence of otters and water voles has been noted. There are proactive, engaged community groups who have made improvements. They include the Friends of the River Yarrow and Friends of Astley Park who continue to work hard to improve the rivers.
