What the reservoir flood maps show

The reservoir flood maps show where water may go in the very unlikely event of a reservoir failure. This service allows reservoir owners, reservoir engineers, developers, spatial planners and members of the public to download the reservoir flood maps.

What information is available on the Data Services Platform

For each of the large raised reservoirs that were in operation in October 2016, the following datasets are available to download:

  • Reservoir flood maps in portable digital format (.pdf)
  • Reservoir flood map extents in geographic information system (GIS) format

To find the reservoir of interest you will need to know the reservoir name or reservoir undertaker’s (owner’s or operator’s) name. However, if the undertaker is a private individual, their name will not be searchable or displayed.

A national dataset, containing all of the reservoir flood map flood extents, is also available for you to download as a GIS layer or as a web mapping service.
