    About

The Middle Don covers the area from Sheffield in the south west to Conisbrough in the north east including Chapeltown, Rawmarsh and Rotherham. The main tributaries are Blackburn Brook, River Sheaf and Greasborough Dike. The key issues in this catchment include the cumulative impact of upstream sewage inputs from other catchments, the modified nature of the river channel and run off from urban areas. The lowest major barrier on the river, Sprotbrough Weir, now has a fish and eel pass which has opened up approximately 10km of the River Don and also provides access to the River Dearne.
