Bathing water quality compliance classification for use during transition to the Revised Bathing Water Directive - rBWD (2006/7/EC) For annual assessments, "Fail" means that fewer than 95% of the samples meet the required mandatory standards of the cBWD Directive (76/0160/EEC). Sample limits used are: "Higher" EC: ≤100; IE: ≤100. "Minimum" EC: ≤2000 "Fail" EC: >2000 EC = Escherichia coli, IE = Intestinal enterococci. All numeric limits are cfu/100ml
