    About

This operational catchment consists of the Seaford and Eastbourne Chalk, the Lower Greensand Cuckmere & Pevensey Levels and the Hastings Beds Cuckmere & Pevensey Levels. The Seaford and Eastbourne Chalk is at poor status, and therefore measures to improve status were subject to cost benefit analysis (CBA).. The character of the groundwater body and the measures selected were comparable to the East Kent Stour Chalk, which was selected as a proxy for this operational catchment. Measures to address rising trends of nitrate focus on reducing agricultural nitrate loss and sewage. Further measures to ensure no deterioration focus on regulation and partnerships to reduce pollution by pesticides, oils and solvents.
