About
The East and West Fens operational catchment includes the West Fen Catchwater, Maud Foster Drain and the Witham Drains. The system to north of the catchment uses the East and West Fen Catchwater Drains to intercept water from the higher ground before discharging it down the Stone Bridge and Maud Foster Drains into the Haven at Boston. The Witham Drains consists of the historic network of drainage channels that drain the low lying fenland areas and supply water for irrigation in summer months. This is managed and maintained by the Witham Fourth Internal drainage Board.
