About
The Lower Eden, downstream of Penrith, flows through the picturesque villages of red sandstone such as Langwathby, Lazonby, Armathwaite and Wetheral. The Eden is joined by the rivers Esk and Irthing to the north east of the city of Carlisle which is the main urban area. The Eden then flows into the Solway Firth.
