    About

The Steeping and Eaus operational catchment is predominately rural with small settlements and historic market towns such as Alford and Spilsby. To the east of the catchment the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty (AONB) dominates the landscape. Important chalk streams rise from the chalk outcrop in this catchment. To the east the catchment becomes coastal floodplain and the watercourses flow to the North Sea. The Lincolnshire coastal resorts of Mablethorpe and Skegness are within this catchment. There are protected areas in the catchment including important bathing waters, Natura 2000 sites and urban waste water directive sensitive sites.
