Mersey Lower Management Catchment

About

The Mersey Estuary Management Catchment covers the Wirral peninsular to the south of the River Mersey and from Bootle to Warrington to the north of the river; this is an area with a population of approximately 1.4 million people. The Mersey Estuary is of worldwide importance for both heritage and environmental reasons. The Liverpool Waterfront is designated as a World Heritage site and the estuary itself is of international importance for wintering birds.
