This accessibility statement applies to the Defra Data Services Platform (DSP). This website is run by the Defra Data Services Platform Service team.

use browser settings or other software to zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
[AbilityNet](https://mcmw.abilitynet.org.uk/ ) has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Defra is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the [Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1](https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG21/ ) AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
*WCAG 1.1.1 - Unneeded alternative text on Defra logo
*WCAG 2.1.1 - Burger menu is not keyboard accessible: It is not possible for a keyboard only user to open the burger menu (three horizontal lines) which is used when the viewport is reduced.
*WCAG 3.3.2 - Inconsistent label on search: Placeholder text reads “Search Defra Group data (e.g., title of dataset….)” but the aria-label reads “enter search text”.
*WCAG 2.1.1 - “Clear search” is not keyboard accessible
*WCAG 3.2.2 - Changing “sort by” and “results per page” forces a reload of the entire page.
*WCAG 1.3.1 - Search results are styled like headings but are not headings.
*WCAG 1.3.1 - Current page is not identified to Assistive Technology
*WCAG 3.2.2 - Inaccurate aria-label on results pagination
*WCAG 1.3.1 - Accordion titles are not marked up as headings.
*WCAG 1.3.1 - Accordion details headings are incorrectly nested.
*WCAG 1.4.3 - Insufficient contrast on search box
*WCAG 1.3.1 – Content in filter modal only accessible by mouse hover
*WCAG 1.3.1 – Content in filter modal not accessible by keyboard
Some images such as reservoir .PDFs do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
This is a new version of the website that is awaiting a full third party audit. It has been checked internally by the Defra accessibility team and the issues identified have been passed to the supplier to be fixed. When the full audit is completed, any further issues identified will be prioritised and we will work with the supplier to resolve them in a timely fashion.
