    About

The River Salwarpe catchment drains an area south west of Birmingham, flowing through the towns of Bromsgrove and Droitwich, then into the River Severn north of Worcester. Bromsgrove is home to the last two established colonies of Water Voles in Worcestershire. The catchment has a mixture of urban and rural lowland landscapes with small scale arable and livestock farming. The streams in the sandstone upper reaches suffer from low flows, whilst the lower reaches are saline due to historic salt abstraction. Tributaries include the Battlefield, Spadesbourne, Hen, Hadley, Elmbridge and Martin brooks and the recently re-opened Droitwich Canal.
