About
The catchment rises in Wales and flows into England through a rural catchment including the towns of Knighton, Leintwardine and Ludlow. The river is renowned for the quality of its Salmon fishery. In recognition of its ecological value, the river has been designated as a nationally important Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Species of interest include salmon, twaite shad, otter, native crayfish, lampreys and bullheads. The Northern part of the catchment is part of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Tributaries of the Teme include the Rivers Clun, Onny and Corve.
