    About

The River Glaze flows approximately 19 miles from Pennington Flash to the River Mersey near Cadishead. The Glaze has six main tributaries which are Astley Brook, Bedford Brook, Hey Brook, Pennington Brook, Shaw Brook and Westleigh Brook. This operational catchment is predominately rural with a population of approximately 75,000 people. The water quality pressures are dominated by sewage discharge and agricultural run-off; however, there is some urban input from the towns of Leigh, Tyldesley and Woolston and village of Culcheth.
