    About

The Rye operational catchment includes the western part of the North York Moors National Park and extends from Hawnby across to Pickering in the east, Ampleforth in the west and Malton in the south. The area includes the picturesque market town of Helmsley and the river valleys of Bilsdale, Bransdale, Farndale, Rosedale and Newtondale. A large proportion of the catchment lies in the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty characterised by rolling countryside, patchwork of arable and pasture fields, scenic villages and historic country houses. Tributaries of the River Rye include the Seth, Riccal, Severn, Pickering Beck & Costa Beck.
