| Control Gate | An adjustable gated structure used to control water levels and flow in watercourses, for water flow management, flood control and navigation. Includes all types of gate, e.g. sluice gates, mitre gates, sector gates, radial gates, vertical lift gates and penstocks. Also includes gates in tidal barriers. Does not include control structures that are adjusted by removable stoplogs. These are covered by In-Channel Stoplogs. Often multiple gates are used in parallel, but each gate should be considered a separate control gate asset and grouped together in a Control Structure complex.
