    About

    The Banbury Jurassic Groundwater Body (GWB) describes part of the Lias Geological Group. The principal water-bearing strata within the Lias in the Groundwater Body is the Marlstone Rock Bed, which is part of the Middle Lias. The Marlstone Rock Beds are classified as Secondary Aquifer. Within this Groundwater body, while the Marlstone Rock is confined in some areas (largely by the Whitby Mudstone). They are shown to crop out over much of the groundwater body. As such groundwater in much of the Marlstone aquifer could be susceptible to surface contamination.
