    The Teme Secondary Combined Groundwater operational catchment has been classified as a Drinking Water Protected Area and is underlain mainly by Devonian/ Silurian mudstones, sandstones, siltstones and limestones. Overlying alluvial silts, sands and gravels deposits are associated with the river valleys.
