    About

The Saltburn coastal area extends from Redcar to Boulby Cliffs near Loftus. East of Saltburn within the North Yorkshire and Cleveland Heritage coast, coastal streams such as Skelton Beck, and Kilton Beck flow direct into the North Sea at Saltburn and Skinningrove respectively, where abandoned ironstone mine workings have affected water ecology. Protected areas in this catchment include 5 bathing waters at Redcar, Marske and Saltburn. The upland areas of the catchment form part of the North York Moors SPA and SAC.
