About
The Rea Brook catchment covers the area south-west of Shrewsbury from Marton on the English-Welsh border and includes the villages of Minsterley, Pontesbury, Hanwood and Bayston Hill. Beginning at Marton Pool, a designated SSSI and Ramsar site, the Rea Brook flows down through a largely rural, farmed landscape before reaching the River Severn at Shrewsbury. Major tributaries for the Rea Brook catchment include the Rowley Brook, Minsterley Brook, Pontesford Brook and Westbury Brook. The Rea Brook is an important refuge for key biodiversity action plan species such as salmonids, and otters. The Minsterley Brook is managed to reduce flood risk.
