    About

Rising from the Cotswold escarpment, the River Chelt and Hatherly Brook catchments consist of both rural and urban areas; Normans Brook is a predominantly rural catchment. The upper reaches of the Chelt is covered by a Groundwater Source Protection Zone (SPZ). Large areas of the urban catchment are drained via combined sewers. Both catchments support a healthy stock of Brown Trout. The lower catchment of the River Chelt is impacted by the discharge from the sewage treatment works that serves Cheltenham. The lower end of all catchments have been impacted by the over deepening of the channel for drainage purposes.
