The catchment sits on a large sandstone aquifer and numerous potable groundwater abstractions which supply drinking water to Kidderminster and the surrounding area. Other abstractions include industrial and agricultural use. The Blakedown Brook has a history of localised low flow issues due to the pressures of abstraction.
