About the data

This site displays key asset management datasets that are approved as Open Data.

  • The location of flood defences and associated maintenance activities
  • Asset Maintenance Programme - the first year (2021/22) is the funded delivery programme from April 2021 to March 2022. The following years show the maintenance needs that will be considered and prioritised for potential funding as part of our annual Flood Defence Grant in Aid allocation process. The Maintenance History section shows maintenance work that was completed in previous years.
  • FCERM Investment Programme schemes with a funding allocation between April 2025 and March 2026.
  • Completed FCERM schemes since 2015 which are now better protecting properties.

Product Descriptions are available for each dataset in the Background section below.

Background

Data Caveats

  1. The first year (2020/21) is the funded delivery programme for April 2020-March 2021. The following years show the maintenance needs that will be considered and prioritised for potential funding as part of our annual FCRM Grant in Aid allocation process. This takes into account the benefits and costs of the work and other factors such as legal obligations. Therefore, a need shown on the programme for future years does not imply that funding will be available to undertake the work. As new future maintenance needs are identified they will be added to the programme as an annual update.
  2. The timing and other details of programmed maintenance works, as well as Capital investment schemes, may change due to site conditions or other reasons (such as delays through extreme weather events). This detail is based on best available information.
  3. Currently not all maintenance activity on our operating structures such as pumping stations, automatic gates and sluices is shown. Asset inspection programmes also are not included.
  4. The Investment Programme and Completed Scheme data is only accurate at a scheme / community level and may not represent the actual location of a FCERM scheme or properties protected. There are also certain schemes which are multi-location and in these instances their location has been attributed to an Environment agency office location in the area undertaking the work.
  5. The Investment Programme data is accurate only to when the information was compiled. Funding, property numbers and timelines are subject to change.
  6. Scheme investment is for 25/26 only. This does not mean future funding for these projects is committed in future years. The future of multiyear projects is subject to change and the outcome of both annual Regional Flood and Coastal Committee consenting and the 2025 Spending Review.
