About
The Upper Eden begins in the high limestone fells above Mallerstang and then flows through the towns of Kirkby Stephen and Appleby. The river then widens as it passes through the village of Temple Sowerby and joins the Lower Eden at Langwathby. The catchment is mainly rural with dairy and beef farming as the primary landuse.
