Summary management approach
Hold the Line approach refers to the hard defence line rather than the beach levels as it is expected that even in the short term to limited beach feed and rising sea levels the beach will narrow and foreshore will lower. During the medium & long term, prior to allowing the existing defences to fail, a secondary defence would need constructing to eliminate the risk of uncontrolled flood propagation. No specific realignment position has been identified for the SMP.
