About this subsection

This subsection is flanked by the large promontories of Hope’s Nose to the north and Berry Head to the south. The towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham are important regional centres for the tourism economy and support other businesses and local services. Transport and leisure infrastructure includes marinas at Brixham Harbour, Paignton and Torquay, plus coastal roads, car parks and part of the Dartmouth-Paignton steam railway line. Tor Bay supports popular beaches of this area.

Much of the coast of Tor Bay is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and the nearshore area is legally protected as a Marine Conservation Zone. Berry Head itself is a National Nature Reserve.
