Summary management approach
Maintain and possibly improve existing flood defences to provide adequate levels of protection along already defended sections. Where no defences exist, allow natural coastal evolution through No Active Intervention.

The ‘No Active Intervention along undefended frontages’ aspect of the Hold The Line/No Active Intervention approach may conflict with the SMP intent for “continued protection for people and property in Kingswear, Totnes and Dartmouth from flooding/erosion” which may require new defences in currently undefended areas as sea levels rise.
