Summary management approach
Maintain a non-interventional approach to allow natural coastal evolution to occur to support conservation objectives for the Fal and Helford Special Area of Conservation. Some small scale flooding risks exist at Porth Nava and St Anthony in Meneage. Localised intervention by exception to the broader approach may occur only in response to these localised risks and where the appropriate consents are secured. The adopted SMP management approach is for No Active Intervention/Managed Realignment, as managed realignment in the Gweek area (excluding Gweek Quay) could provide valuable intertidal habitat creation opportunities.

Management approaches depend on funding and relevant approvals and permissions. Adaptation to coastal change may be needed. If defences are present, some risk from flooding, erosion or ground instability may remain.
