Summary management approach
Maitain defences in the short term to allow for full impact assessment of managed realignment options to be completed. Aim of realignment is to reduce beach loss created by coastal squeeze against the road. The implications of the Site of Special Scientific Interest transitioning from freshwater to more saline habitat under this approach is supported by Natural England. The management approach at this location will be further informed by Cornwall Council's 'Making Space For Sand' project, which is being undertaken during the period 2021 - 2027, funded by the Environment Agency's Flood and Coastal Resilience and Innovation Programme.
